VANCOUVER, B.C., September 2, 2026 - The Green Party of Vancouver is recognizing Stephanie Allen for the contribution she has made to Vancouver’s 2026 mayoral race following today’s announcement that she will no longer seek the mayor’s office as COPE’s candidate.

Allen brought significant housing expertise and a strong commitment to affordability, social justice, and community-led solutions to the campaign. As a co-founder of Hogan’s Alley Society and former Vice President of Strategic Operations at BC Housing, she has spent much of her career working on some of the most difficult housing challenges facing Vancouver and British Columbia.

“Stephanie brought experience, conviction, and a lot of integrity to this campaign,” said Green mayoral candidate Pete Fry. “I have a great deal of respect for anyone willing to put themselves forward for public service, especially Stephanie, and want to thank her for the energy, ideas and principles she brought to this race.”

The Vancouver Greens also recognize COPE’s long history of fighting for working people, tenants, public services, and a more affordable Vancouver. That voice remains an important part of the city’s political landscape.

“COPE and the Greens have accomplished so much together in the past. We are distinct parties with our own histories, priorities and approaches, but there is also a great deal we can accomplish, when progressive voices work constructively together,” said Green Party Executive Director Nick Poppell. “Stephanie and COPE have brought real strengths to this election, and they deserve our respect for that. Whatever the final composition of the next Council, Vancouver will be better served by elected officials who can find common ground and work together to deliver for the people.”

With just over 45 days remaining before Election Day, the Vancouver Greens will continue working to earn the support of voters across the city and build a coalition focused on affordability, accountable government, strong public services, and practical solutions to the challenges Vancouver faces.
