VANCOUVER, B.C., September 8, 2026 — The Vancouver Green Party today thanked William Azaroff for his campaign for mayor following news that the OneCity candidate has withdrawn from the race, and pointed to Green candidate Pete Fry as the clear alternative to Ken Sim heading into the October 17 election.

"William ran a serious campaign and raised real issues that matter to this city: housing, small business, affordability," said Pete Fry, the Vancouver Greens' candidate for mayor. "I want to thank him and everyone who worked on his campaign for the effort and ideas they brought to this race."

Fry said his focus now is on making the case directly to Vancouverites.

"On the doorstep, people tell me they want a city that's run well: housing that gets built, services that work, a mayor who's transparent and shows up. That's what I've been fighting for on council for the last eight years, and it's what I'll deliver as mayor."

Fry pointed to his last four years as the only consistent opposition voice to Ken Sim and ABC on Vancouver City Council as evidence he's ready to lead.

"This race comes down to a simple choice: four more years of Ken Sim and ABC, or a mayor who will actually put Vancouverites first," said Fry. "COPE, OneCity, and the Greens don't agree on everything, but we are united in the values that matter: a city that works for everyday residents. With William stepping aside, progressive Vancouver has a real chance to come together behind one candidate and put an end to Ken Sim and his ABC majority."

With five weeks left until election day, the Vancouver Greens said the campaign will keep doing what's gotten it this far: knocking doors and talking directly with residents in every corner of the city.

"This election is about who's ready to actually do the job, from day one," said Fry. "I'm asking every Vancouverite, whoever you've supported up to now, to take a look at what I've done and what I'm offering. A City That Works For You, and a Mayor That Will Too."
