William Yang

William is an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia, pursuing a major in International Relations. Before joining the Green Party of Vancouver, he founded and participated in several youth-led non-profit organizations dedicated to promoting environmental awareness, civic engagement, and equitable access to educational resources. His early experiences in community organizing fostered a belief that meaningful change begins at the local level, guided by a global sense of responsibility. Through his academic work and advocacy, William explores how environmental policy can be joined with the current governance, representation, and civic participation. He is passionate about empowering young people to take part in political dialogue and about ensuring that sustainability efforts reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. As part of the Green Party of Vancouver, William hopes to bridge local action with global awareness, encouraging collective responsibility and an inclusive vision for a resilient city. He believes Vancouver’s strength lies in its diversity, and that a truly sustainable future must be built through empathy, collaboration, and informed public engagement.
