There's a new sheriff in town, and he spent Pride weekend celebrating with the community

VANCOUVER, B.C., August 3, 2026 — This year's Pride celebrations brought the city into the streets in full force with joy, music, community, and that unmistakably Vancouver kind of energy. Pete Fry and members of the Vancouver Greens were thrilled to jump into the celebration and spend the weekend with friends, neighbours, supporters, and community members from every corner of the city.

Pride is a chance to celebrate people exactly as they are, to fill public space with joy and welcome, and to honour the generations of people who built that space through courage, organizing, and fierce community care.

But Pride is also a reminder that belonging can never be taken for granted. A truly welcoming city is built through thousands of everyday choices: whether people feel safe being themselves, whether public institutions treat them with dignity, whether community spaces stay open to everyone, and whether elected leaders show up not just for celebration, but for the harder conversations too.

The Vancouver Greens have always believed a strong city is one that makes room for people to live openly, participate fully and belong. No exceptions. Pride weekend is one of those moments when Vancouver shows the world just how vibrant that kind of city can be.
