Greens Welcome OneCity Mayoral Nominee, Reaffirm Commitment to Unity

The Green Party of Vancouver remains committed to ongoing unity discussions across the progressive movement. Throughout these talks, the Greens have conducted themselves with integrity and good faith, grounded in a shared commitment to respect, collaboration, and shared purpose. A surge of interest in Pete Fry’s run for mayor has induced an extension of new applications to run as Green candidates for Council, Park Board and School Board in 2026.

Pete Fry and the Green Party of Vancouver welcome William Azaroff to the race for Mayor of Vancouver.

Congratulations to OneCity Vancouver on their successful nomination vote, and to both William Azaroff and Amanda Burrows on their robust campaigns to win the support of their membership.

“I’ve known both William and Amanda individually for years and appreciate what each brought to the table with their dedication to service,” said Green mayoral candidate Pete Fry. “OneCity members had a difficult choice between two excellent candidates.”

Fry and the Greens welcome the new OneCity candidate for mayor to what’s been variously dubbed a progressive primary, or the People’s Primary, and look forward to welcoming credible and electable progressive options ahead of the election, with the clear intention to ultimately unite behind one challenger capable of defeating Ken Sim in October.

Vancouver voters deserve collaboration over division, and maturity over turf politics. The Greens are focused on building the strongest possible coalition to offer a credible, principled leadership in October.
