Green Party of Vancouver Announce First Round of City Council Nomination Candidates
VANCOUVER, B.C. — The Green Party of Vancouver is pleased to announce the first round of approved candidates seeking the party’s nomination to run for City Council in the 2026 municipal election, joining Councillor Pete Fry’s campaign for Mayor of Vancouver.
This group of candidates reflects a diverse range of experience across community organizing, public service, health care, climate policy, housing advocacy, small business, and the arts. Each brings a strong commitment to integrity, accountability, and building a city that works for everyone.
The first round of approved candidates seeking the Green Party nomination are:
- Annette Reilly: filmmaker, health advocate, and community organizer
- Bridget Burns: organizer with deep experience in campaigns and small business communities
- Camil Dumont: former Park Board Chair and urban agriculture leader
- Effy Demeter: community advocate focused on housing, youth in the arts, and the Downtown Eastside
- Julie Strilesky: climate policy expert and small business leader
- Kyra Philbert: community health nurse, artist, and public health advocate
- Stephanie Smith: housing, labour, and social justice activist
Together, they represent a new generation of leadership grounded in real-world experience and a shared belief that Vancouver should be a city where people can build a good life.
“This is an incredibly strong group of people stepping forward to serve,” said Pete Fry. “Each of these candidates brings a deep commitment to their communities and a practical understanding of the challenges people are facing. I’m excited about the opportunity to build a team at City Hall focused on delivery, transparency, and making life more affordable.”
The Green Party of Vancouver will select its final City Council candidates through a membership vote.
