Vancouver Greens Nominate Park Board and School Board Candidates for 2026 Election

Gabi Tremblay, Spencer van Vloten, Tom Digby, Alisha Masongsong, and Julie Strilesky to join Pete Fry’s Green team

VANCOUVER, B.C., June 8th, 2026 — Members of the Green Party of Vancouver have selected Gabi Tremblay, Spencer van Vloten, and Tom Digby as the party’s nominated candidates for Vancouver Park Board, and Alisha Masongsong and Julie Strilesky as the party’s nominated candidates for Vancouver School Board in the 2026 municipal election.

The candidates will join Councillor Pete Fry, who is running for Mayor, as part of his Green team focused on accountable government, strong public services, climate action, and putting people back at the centre of local decision-making.

The nominated candidates bring a wide range of experience in public service, community planning, accessibility advocacy, public education, climate resilience, recreation, and grassroots community leadership.

Gabi Tremblay is a community-driven planner, outreach worker, and former Vancouver Park Board lifeguard. Spencer van Vloten is an award-winning accessibility advocate, writer, and founder of the Vancouver Community Inclusion Fest. Tom Digby is the current Vancouver Park Board Chair seeking re-election after a first term defined by wins for cyclists, trans rights, and green spaces.

Alisha Masongsong is a mother, community advocate, and social planner committed to safe, inclusive, and properly resourced public schools. Julie Strilesky is a Vancouver-born policy leader and climate advocate committed to transparent, collaborative, accountable public school leadership.

“This is a very strong team,” said Pete Fry. “Each of these candidates brings real community experience, practical knowledge, and a deep commitment to public service. I’m excited to have them joining our Green team as we work to build a city that is more accountable, more collaborative, and more focused on the everyday needs of Vancouver families.”

The Green Party of Vancouver enters the 2026 election with a clear commitment to protecting public services, strengthening democratic accountability, and ensuring Vancouver’s parks, public spaces, and schools are supported for the people who rely on them every day.

“Our parks, recreation services, and public schools are essential to healthy, connected neighbourhoods,” Fry added. “This team understands that. They know these services are not extras. They are part of what allows people to build good lives in this city.”

Vancouver families are facing affordability pressures.  Our public spaces are under strain. The city’s school communities need real support. The Vancouver Greens are focused on practical leadership that listens, works collaboratively, and follows through.

“People are looking for elected representatives who are honest about the challenges we face and serious about doing the work,” Fry said. “That is the spirit this team brings to the campaign, and it is the kind of leadership we need at City Hall, Park Board, and School Board.”
