Green Party of Vancouver Announces Five Approved Park Board Contestants

VANCOUVER, B.C., MAY 1, 2026 — The Green Party of Vancouver is proud to announce five approved contestants seeking the Park Board nomination for the 2026 municipal election, as it continues to build its full slate alongside Councillor Pete Fry’s mayoral campaign.

Vancouver's parks, community centres, and recreation facilities are some of the most cherished shared resources in the city, and the Greens are putting forward a team with the hands-on experience to protect and strengthen them.

The approved candidates seeking the Green Party nomination are:

  • Adam Hawk: cycling advocate, organic food industry veteran, and former Vancouver Greens board member
  • Breanne Smart: celebrated vegan chef, athlete, and decade-long volunteer across Vancouver's parks and community spaces
  • Gabi Tremblay: community-driven planner, outreach worker, and former Vancouver Park Board lifeguard
  • Spencer van Vloten: award-winning accessibility advocate, writer, and founder of the Vancouver Community Inclusion Fest
  • Tom Digby: current Park Board Chair seeking re-election after a first term defined by wins for cyclists, trans rights, and green spaces

"Vancouver loves parks and green spaces. It's part of our identity," said Pete Fry. "This team knows that firsthand. Whether it's fighting for accessible trails, expanding community gardens, or making sure our recreation facilities are funded and thriving, these are people who show up. That's exactly who we want at the Park Board table.”

The Green Party of Vancouver will select its final Park Board candidates through a membership vote. More details on that will be announced soon.

The party is also still accepting nominations for Park Board and School Board. To learn more or apply, contact [email protected] or visit the Greens' website.
