Candidate for School Board

Alisha is a mother, community advocate, and Social Planner in Community Economic Development with the City of Vancouver. For more than a decade, she has worked in Vancouver communities through non-profit and public sector roles focused on housing, health care, and community development. She brings extensive experience in community engagement, building partnerships, and developing programs that respond to local needs.

Alisha believes strong public schools are at the heart of healthy, connected communities. As a parent, she understands the importance of schools that are safe, inclusive, accessible, and properly resourced so that every child can succeed. She is committed to working collaboratively with parents, teachers, support staff, and administrators to support student learning, well-being, and belonging.

Throughout her career, Alisha has worked alongside diverse communities and understands the importance of listening, relationship-building, and practical solutions. She is passionate about ensuring students and educators have the support they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Alisha previously served on the Board of Directors for the Green Party of Vancouver and has volunteered with the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House. She holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Wilfrid Laurier University and a post-graduate certificate in Community Economic Development from Simon Fraser University.

Outside of work, Alisha enjoys singing in a community choir and spending time outdoors hiking and camping. She believes the arts, music, and access to nature are essential to a child’s learning, creativity, and development, and is committed to ensuring every Vancouver student has opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
