Accessible washrooms for all

Public washrooms support public health. That's why our park board team will make clean, accessible facilities a priority. Greens will work in close collaboration with our partners and staff to provide a welcoming and inclusive standard at every Park Board facility, for all ages, genders, abilities and backgrounds.

Park Board Chair Stuart Mackinnon has long been an advocate for public bathrooms across Vancouver. He is adamant that “publicly accessible bathrooms need to be approached as a public health issue.”

Green park commissioners will mandate that all new facilities be universally accessible and offer gender-neutral options, and that older facilities be gradually retrofitted as such.

Public washrooms need to be treated as a public health issue. Clean, accessible washrooms are an essential part of community infrastructure. We need to ensure a welcoming and inclusive standard at every Park Board facility, for all ages, genders, abilities and backgrounds.

We support the Vancouver Green's efforts to prioritize clean, well-functioning facilities in our parks so that everyone has access to a public washroom facility when they need it.
