Green Party of Vancouver reaffirms opposition to coastal refineries, tar sands and pipeline expansion

The Green Party of Vancouver today reaffirmed that it is opposed to any expansion of fossil fuel extraction, processing and transport. A refinery at Kitimat would facilitate expansion of tar sands production, require pipelines across salmon bearing streams and rivers and unceded First Nations’ territories. It would result in increased tanker traffic along our vulnerable coastline and exacerbate climate change. The party also reaffirms its support for First Nations and other citizens who oppose new or expanded pipelines to our coast.
