The Board of Directors of the Green Party of Vancouver (GPV) has approved the following Donation Policy that will apply through to the 2014 election:
a) All candidates endorsed by the GPV must adhere to the party’s donation policy.
b) The Party and its endorsed candidates may receive income from any individual not restricted in this policy, or any individual who purchases goods or services in a party-sponsored silent or live auction, so long as the amount received from any one individual does not exceed $5,000 annually.
c) The party and its endorsed candidates shall not knowingly accept donations from property development companies and corporations in the fossil fuel sector, including donations from those corporations’ CEOs, owners, executive and board members.
d) Non-profit society, union and non-prohibited corporate donations are limited to $5,000 or less annually.
e) All donations accepted by the Party and its endorsed candidates must come from a Canadian source.
f) The party’s Executive reserves the right to review and prohibit other donations.
Campaign spending limitation policy
-Adopted effective April 1, 2014
In the absence of leadership on the issue of campaign finance limits by the Provincial Government, the Green Party of Vancouver has voluntarily adopted the following limits on election campaign spending, which it invites other civic parties to adopt as well:
- The Party itself shall not spend more than $0.65 per registered voter in an election period (roughly $273,000 this year)
- In addition, each individual candidate endorsed by the Green Party of Vancouver shall spend no more than $0.15 per registered voter in an election period (roughly $63,000 this year)
- The exception is that a Mayoral candidate endorsed by the Green Party of Vancouver may spend up to $0.65 per registered voter on his or her mayoral campaign.
